Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD)
Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD) is a problem with the way incoming sounds are processed by the brain. Sounds are received properly by the ear, but are not processed and interpreted correctly by the brain. This disorder primarily affects language sounds and can cause problems with paying attention to auditory input, descriminating between sounds, remembering and recalling auditory information, and higher level thinking skills involving auditory information. CAPD may lead to language and behaviour problems and often looks like Attention Deficit (Hyperactivity) Disorder (ADHD). Meet the Psychiatrist Pushing For A Brave New World of Pre-Drugging Kids—Patrick McGorry

By CCHR International
May 21, 2010
One of the most controversial proposed disorders for the upcoming revision of psychiatry’s billing bible of mental disorders, (the DSM-5) is Psychosis Risk Syndrome (PRS) a “mental disorder” that, if voted into DSM, would confirm the allegations that psychiatry is manufacturing a Brave New World for itself—heavily backed by Big Pharma—of drugging children before they develop a “mental illness.”

Confirming the Hazards of Stimulant Drug Treatment
By Peter R. Breggin, M.D.
Until recently, no studies have systematically examined the rate of psychotic symptoms caused by routine treatment with stimulant drugs such as Concerta, methylphenidate (Ritalin) and amphetamine (Dexedrine, Adderall). Doctors who prescribe stimulant drugs often seem oblivious to the fact that they can cause psychoses, including manic-like and schizophrenic-like disorders.

Akathisia is an internal drive to move and be constantly involved in activities. People experiencing akathisia find it difficult to sit still and stop moving. Akathisia is sometimes accompanied by paranoia and anxiety. Akathisia affects patients primarily taking antipsychotics. There are cures that can help alleviate the problem of akathisia, but in some cases patients experience long-term akathisia. Their treatment would also be long-term and only partially cure the condition, but it cannot fully treat some cases.
Risperdal (generically known as risperdone) is an antipsychotic drug that is used to treat delusional psychoses. Dopamine is a key neurotransmitter that the brain uses which allows a person to experience pleasure and desire. Risperdal acts to reduce the amount of dopamine the brain produces so that a natural balance of chemicals in the brain. This can reduce or eliminate many psychotic episodes that people experience.
Unfortunately the use of Risperdal is known to cause several harmful side effects for its users. Dangerous side effects of Risperdal are similar to those of many other antipsychotic medications. Potential fatal side effects include tardive, dyskinesia, extraphyramidal disorders and serious neuroleptic malignant disorders. Non-fatal, short term side effects of Risperdal nausea, anxiety, dizziness, insomnia, low blood pressure, muscle stiffness, fatigue and weight gain.
There are also very serious risks of Risperdal being taken in pregnant women. If you become pregnant while taking the drug, it is strongly advised that you consult your physician immediately. In certain studies it was shown that rat pups with Risperdal in their systems had a higher rate of fatalities than the others. If these studies are duplicated in humans it could mean that children with Risperdal in their systems could face a higher death rate.

The dangers of many newer medications are that the safety of that drug has not yet been established for use in children. Risperdal was first approved as an antipsychotic drug and has only been approved to treat symptoms of adult schizophrenia. These days, psychiatric drug prescriptions for children have become an increasingly controversial trend. Many people feel that the introduction of newer psychiatric drugs has further extended the gap for drug treatment in place of counseling.

Labeling creates an image you are defective which can lead to low self-esteem, hinder progress and worse become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

DEAR PARENTS

Adderall XR may cause the following symptoms that are related to peripheral motor neuropathy (nerve damage which can cause muscle weakness, painful cramps, muscle twitching under the skin, of loss of muscle):
Drug Withdrawals, Psychiatry, Mental Health Medications
Dr. Breeding discusses the withdrawal symptoms or discontinuation symptoms of mental health meds like antidepressants, antipsychotics, amphetamines, adhd drugs, and anxiety medications. He gives different resources that person can use to help them taper off the drugs.
Dr. Breeding points out that many doctors overlook the withdrawal symptoms when a person discontinues taking a psychiatric drug and thus claim that the person is having a relapse of mental illness instead of the effects of coming off of a drug one is addicted to.

Virtually all antipsychotic drugs-and even some dopamine-blocking agents and antidepressants-carry the risk of a potentially fatal reaction. Your ability to recognize the symptoms and intervene quickly can save a patient's life.
Two potentially fatal side-effects of antipsychotic medications - NMS and Serotonin Syndrome. Could you recognize these psychiatric emergencies? Unfortunately, symptoms are sometimes misinterpreted by doctors as symptoms of mental illness, delaying treatment.
Drug Induced Movement Disorders More recently the term"tardive stereotypies"has been used for classical rhythmic oral-facial movements and is one type of the spectrum of tardive dyskinetic movement disorders. Tardive dyskinesia also includes tardive chorea, tardive dystonia, tardive akathisia, tardive tics, tardive myoclonus, and tardive tremor.
