Can you tell me if durham shares homes with this foster care program. Maple Star Services is a provider Treatment Foster Care based in Ontario.

I recently had my cousin placed into my care because she had nowhere else to go. In the past, she has been a runaway and has been in and out of group and foster homes over the years. Finally in Jan/09 she had been made a Crown Ward with the CAS. Shortly after that I offered to be her surety on some minor charges. This meant that the court over-ruled the CAS and placed her into my home instead of a group home like they wanted. She is only 14!! I'm only 24 so I'm struggling to support her financially. So far the CAS worker has said that I am not eligible for any funding besides maybe a clothing allowance for her every 4 months. I've been reading a few posts on this website and its mentioned something about Bill210 and Crown Wards but I'm confused as to whether or not I can get funding from CAS for her due to the fact her worker is calling it a Kinship. Her worker also said that Kinship placements receive no money to help support the child. This is all new to me as I never imagined I would become involved with the CAS. If anyone can help me try to find out some way to get some kind of funding for her it would be greatly appreciated!! Any questions about my situation please feel free to ask!!!

Hi Pat, you would have to call and ask them if they share homes with that agency. Hi Momme, what area are you in? As far as I know, most agency's have a kinship program. I'm not sure how it works. :)Elaine.
